Hadley's Hope - Aliens Inspired Environment

This is the culmination of many months of work and different ideas as to where this project might go as well as an homage to one of my favorite films and franchises of all time. Like with many of us out there I'm sure, the slow roll of those five letters onto the big screen and quiet ominous soundtrack building out the universe of ALIEN inevitably put me on the path to working in this industry all those years ago. I have some more plans for this set in the future, we'll have to see if they pan out or not but I had to get this project out and published or I would never stop tweaking. I've titled it Hadley's Hope but really I've mashed together elements from all over the place in the first two films and chosen things that I like to fill out the scene.

HUGE inspiration from Guillermo Alfaro's Project: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RYzNme https://www.artstation.com/willms gotta be one of the coolest shorts I've ever seen and it really helped me along the way evoking an atmosphere. I hope I've done it justice!
Another amazing project that I couldn't stop looking at was Ian Stewart's: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/EBBVN https://www.artstation.com/ianstewart1 he's done something quite special there and I can only hope to reach that level in the future!

This project began as a quick modelling project making the motion tracker (another piece in my portfolio) and quickly ballooned into and effort at playing with UE5's VR tools, soon enough though I was taken by the need for fidelity and resolution and atmospheric lighting, I had to see how far I could push myself. I also experimented with some of UE5's Nanite and Lumen tools for the first time as well as the early VDB integration for some of the smoke effects, created in EmberGen (still lots of learning to go there).

The project was tremendous good fun and has kept me with something to do for the past little while, now I s'pose I'll have to find something new to tackle. Until then thanks for taking a look!
